Government names five Donegal sports clubs eligible for EV Charging Scheme

Ardara GAA named as eligible club for EV Charging Scheme

The Minister for Transport, Darragh O’Brien, has named five Donegal sporting clubs that are eligible for the Shared Island Club EV Charging Infrastructure Scheme.

Minister O’Brien answered a question at Dáil Éireann from Donegal TD, Charles Ward.

The 100% Redress member asked the minister for the number of clubs within Donegal that had been included in the scope of the all-island sports club EV charging project.

Minister O’Brien responded: “Included in the scope of the Shared Island Sports Club EV Charging Infrastructure Scheme are 227 clubs of which 179 are in Ireland and 48 in Northern Ireland.

“There are 5 eligible clubs in Donegal: CLG Ard An Ratha Ardara GAA, Curragh Athletic FC, Dunfanaghy Golf Club, Letterkenny Golf Club, and Portsalon Golf Club.

“All of these clubs have been assessed for suitability by an independent panel for inclusion in the scheme. The scheme includes GAA, rugby, soccer, golf clubs and other sporting organisations in towns, rural communities and city suburbs.

“The clubs have now been approved to proceed to engage a supplier from the framework contract to provide EV charging services in their grounds.”
