Donegal County Council has granted conditional planning permission for the construction of a four-storey apartment block containing 22 apartments in Letterkenny.
The granted permission also includes plans for a communal roof terrace and ancillary areas, including lower-level car parking and bicycle parking, a toddlers’ play area and landscaped amenity areas.
Brian Brogan is the listed applicant for the planned 16 two-bed apartments and six one-bed apartments, with the proposed location being Calhame Road, next to the Mountain Top roundabout.
MH Associates submitted a letter to Donegal County Council, stating: “In our opinion, the proposed development represents a high-quality apartment scheme which has been designed to help to diversify the housing stock in Letterkenny and to help address the ongoing housing need.”

The location in question has been subject to previous applications. In 2021, the current applicant submitted and then withdrew an application for the construction of 32 apartments.
Prior to that application, in 2007, BEC Construction Ltd was granted conditional planning permission for the erection of a building containing warehouse units, storage units, offices, and accommodation.
Donegal County Council gave conditional planning for the current development with 24 conditions, including a condition that before development commences, the developer shall provide adequate security in the amount of €110,000 to the Planning Authority for provision and completion of all services required by the development, paid in the form of a bond of a banking or insurance company acceptable to the Planning Authority, or a cash deposit, or such other security that the council may approve.
A further condition is that the applicant shall pay a contribution of €44,543.62 in respect of pubic infrastructure and facilities benefiting the development in the area of the Planning Authority that is already provided or is intended will be provided by the Authority.
