Case was heard at Donegal District Court at Ballyshannon Courthouse
A Bruckless resident was convicted and fined €200 at Donegal District Court for driving without valid insurance.
Daniel James Mullarkey, 31, of Multains, Bruckless, Donegal, was fined €200 by Judge Éiteáin Cunningham at Ballyshannon Courthouse, with five months to pay. Mullarkey, who had entered a plea and had no previous convictions, was not given a driving disqualification.
The defendant’s solicitor, Jim Corbett, told the Court: “He is a chef and 31 years of age. He used the vehicle on the date in question and was not insured.”

On August 7, 2024, at Drumlonagher, Donegal Town, Mullarkey was the user of a vehicle for which neither a vehicle insurer nor an exempted person would be liable for injury caused by the negligent use of the said vehicle at that time and for which there was not then in force an approved policy of insurance as required by Part VI of the Road Traffic Act, 1961, as amended by Part VI of the Road Traffic Act, 1968, as amended.
Mullarkey was found to be contrary to Section 56 (1) and (3) of the Road Traffic Act 1961, as amended by Section 18 of the Road Traffic Act, 2006.
