Bundoran Community Centre celebrates renamed Marc Geagan Suite

Bundoran Community Centre remembered a “leading light of local community development” as the Marc Geagan Suite was officially renamed and launched.

Marc Geagan, who was involved in the local cultural and community scene, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in September 2023. 

On the latest Bundoran Community Centre’s newsletter, it was said: “Marc Geagan was a leading light of local community development, mostly through music, history and bringing people together under these headings.

“His work in the Centre was greatly valued, and we were thrilled to have a re-naming event of the Rougey Suite to the Marc Geagan Suite on Friday, November 28.

“An intimate gathering of family, board and some musician friends gathered to celebrate and remember Marc. It was a special evening.”

One of the event’s attendees, Ronan Gallagher, wrote on social media: “What a wonderful night we had in the now newly named Marc Geagan Suite in Bundoran Community Centre last night. 

“A gathering of musicians and friends and the surrounding community to celebrate the renaming of the space after our good friend, the late Marc Geagan, in recognition for all the work he did in the community to bring people together and for promoting local musicians. 

“I was very proud to sing a song I co-wrote with Marc last night, accompanied by Marc's son David and his daughter Zoe. Magic!”
