Last year's auction raised €50,000 for charity
Teague’s Bar in Ardara is to host the 20th edition of the Annual Poor Farmers Association (PFA) Auction on Monday, December 29.
To date, the PFA has raised €575,149 for local charities.
The evening kicks off at 9pm, and this year, the money raised from the annual auction will be distributed between The Community First Responders, Down Strands Counselling Service, The Kevin Bell Repatriation Fund, Cancer Research and other charities.
Previous auctions have seen various lots auctioned, such as sheep, heifers, bags of turf, chickens, gates, bags of nuts and bales of silage, to name but a few.

A PFA statement read: “This year, the PFA is delighted to be supporting these worthwhile and important organisations. As always, the generosity of the local communities contributes to the success of the night, so please dig deep and support the PFA again this year.
“The PFA is a group of local volunteers who run this event in their own time. This event has incurred zero costs for the last 20 years, with every single penny raised going directly to the charities. This successful committee has been made up of the original members since 2006 from Teague’s Bar Ardara.
“The PFA auction will be as usual, a great night’s craic. The stage is transformed into a bidding table for the auctioneer taking charge of proceedings over the usual dance floor which also morphs, on the night, into ‘the mart-ring’ with livestock auctioned in the bar, but seeing is believing so be sure to make your way to Teague’s Bar on December 29.”
Online bidding will be managed by Mart Eye. Organisers ask anyone interested in online bidding to sign up to Mart Eye and register. If you have already registered with the Mart Eye PFA platform, you should automatically be registered on Mart Eye.
