Indoor horse arena and equine academy planned at Drumdoit Stables
Planning for a proposed indoor horse arena and equine academy in East Donegal has been submitted to Donegal County Council for planning permission approval.
Listed applicant, Shauna Boyle, who is based at Drumdoit Stables near the border with County Tyrone, between Castlefin and Castlederg, has submitted an application seeking the development of an equine academy to include the construction of an indoor horse arena building, including stables, a feed room, and office and toilet facilities, the construction of a classroom and an accommodation block, development of a foul effluent system, an internal access road, parking areas, perimeter walking trail and all associated and ancillary site development works.

The new planned indoor arena and stables are proposed for land of over one square kilometre in size.
Drumdoit Stables currently already boasts an outdoor sand arena for horses to practice the sports of dressage and showjumping. Equine therapy sessions have also been available at the premises.
Donegal County Council has set a decision due date for the submitted planning application for February 21, 2026.
