Ballybofey graveyard criminally damaged after headstone found pushed over

St. Mary's Church, Sessiaghoneill

A graveyard on the outskirts of Ballybofey was criminally damaged during the Christmas period.

Gardaí said a headstone on a grave, to the rear of St. Mary’s Church in Sessiaghoneill, Ballybofey, was pushed over and damaged, between 7am on Thursday, December 25, and 6.30pm on Sunday, December 28.

The assistance of the public is being sought by Gardaí in connection with the incident of criminal damage.

A Gardaí statement read: “If anyone observed any type of suspicious activity in the area of the graveyard between those dates or if they can assist with relevant information, we ask them to contact Ballyshannon Gardaí on 071-9858530.
