Ballyshannon Fire Station
A Donegal County Council official told a Donegal Municipal District meeting that they would like to be “on-site” at the proposed Bundoran/Ballyshannon fire station in 2027.
It had been announced in October 2025 that a new state-of-the-art Fire Station would be built to serve Bundoran and Ballyshannon, due to the current fire station in both towns being in a state of “disrepair.”
The new fire station was confirmed to be constructed to facilitate a minimum of two pumping appliances at Finner
Director of Human Resources, Economic Development and Emergency Services, Garry Martin, responded to Cllr Michael McMahon’s queries on the issue during February’s Donegal MD meeting, when Cllr McMahon asked if there was a design team for the planning of the stations in place either shortly or this year.

Martin replied: “The issue regarding the Bundoran/Ballyshannon is fairly current.
“We have been given the go-ahead to commence the design, so that is the first step.
“It is very difficult to say what the timeline is. Our own intention is that we would really like to be on site in 2027.
“It is a three-bay station, which we have got advice on. It is fairly large-scale.”
