IPAS Centre planning permission application made in Loch an Iúir
Planning permission has been sought from Donegal County Council for the continued use of a residential house near Loch an Iúir for the use of an International Protection (IPAS) Centre.
As well as applying for the continued use of Loistín an Iúir as an IPAS Centre at the site, the application includes additional parking and all associated site development works.
International Protection is the protection by a government of someone who has left another country and cannot return to their home country because there is a well-founded fear for that person’s safety from persecution.

In 2025, two incomplete applications were submitted to Donegal County Council at the location, the first in August for the change of use from residential to a small hotel, and the second in November for the conversion of a residential house as an IPAS Centre.
Donegal County Council has set a decision due date for the submitted planning application for April 28.
