Mountcrest Caravan Park, Bundoran
Planning permission is being sought from Donegal County Council for the installation of 22 new caravans at a caravan park in Bundoran.
Mountcrest Caravan Park, off the R267 in the west of Bundoran, has submitted the application for 22 new static caravans as well as the provision of a new children’s play area and a new all-weather pitch, installation of associated street lighting, foul, storm and water infrastructure works, and the provision of an associated access road.
Retention permission has also been sought from the site for 20 static caravans and associated site works.
A planning statement by Genesis Planning Consultants stated: “The development aims to enhance the existing tourism accommodation offering at Mountcrest by building on its established role as a key holiday park in Bundoran. The proposal accords with policy objectives promoting the redevelopment of serviced brownfield lands for tourism use.”

The consultant firm also commented: “The overall design rationale is based on consolidating and extending the existing caravan park, utilising previously developed land efficiently, providing a new purpose-designed open space area with play equipment, creating a high-quality tourism development, strengthening the tourism offering for the area,” and “enhancing the overall visual and functional quality of Mountcrest Caravan Park as a consolidated tourism development.”
Donegal County Council has set a decision due date for the submitted planning application for April 30.
