Proposed site for 60 dwellings near Letterkenny

Planning permission has been sought from Donegal County Council for the construction of 60 dwellings near Letterkenny.

Cillanoir Developments Ltd, the listed applicant, has applied for the construction of 60 dwellings, and all associated site development works, including carparking, landscaped amenity areas, surfaced play areas, seating areas, and all ancillary site works to include connection to existing public services, including an onsite storm attenuation system.

The proposals are to be located in Killyclug, to the northwest of Letterkenny, near the housing areas of Cluain Ard and Gleánn Eadán.

Proposals for the dwellings include 45 four-bed homes, 13 three-bed homes and two two-bed homes, with six dwellings to be transferred to Donegal County Council at an agreed cost.

MH Associates Architects and Surveyors, in a design statement on behalf of the applicant, stated: “The proposed development has been carefully designed with the goal of achieving a balance between protecting existing residential amenity and providing a high-quality residential development within the town plan boundary.

“The Development has been carefully designed to ensure that no adverse amenity impacts will be created for existing nearby residents.”

It was concluded: “In our opinion, the proposed development represents a high-quality residential scheme which has been designed to help to diversify the housing stock in Letterkenny and to help address the ongoing housing need, and respectfully request the planning authority to consider a positive decision in due course.”

The site had been subject to a granted planning application in 2012, when McGettigan Construction secured an extension of duration application for the erection of 85 dwelling houses.

Donegal County Council has set a decision due date for the submitted application for May 12.
