Planning permission has been submitted to Donegal County Council to retain and upgrade a recently opened Ballyshannon gymnastics club.

Dynamic Gymnastics Club opened at a unit at the Old Parian China Factory, Old Bundoran Road, in Dunmuckrum, Ballyshannon, in May 2025 and has applied to retain the use of a unit at the site for a gymnasium studio.

The club are also seeking the provision of additional parking facilities, the erection of signage to the front facade as part of the gymnasium studio, and all associated site works and connection to all existing services.

A document by Allan Curran Architects Ltd, on behalf of Dynamic Gymnastics Club, read: “Unit No. 3 should have 20 car parking spaces allocated within the overall area. We propose to include for an additional 10 car parking spaces

“The 'club' class size averages 19.5 children. Children that attend are being dropped off and collected. There are a lot of siblings and car sharing, with parents also walking and using local link bus routes.

“The classes are spaced out to allow the movement of children out of the club before the next class arrives.

“We will remove the current signage and apply for planning permission for a new sign which will include the Irish “club gleacaíochta dinimiciúil” or “gleacaíocht” as you prefer.”

Donegal County Council has set a decision due date for the submitted planning application for May 27.
