Finn Valley Centre Community Heroes are are honoured

Congratulations to the Finn Valley Centre’s Community Heroes, who were recognised for their dedication at a reception at the centre last Friday.

In her introductory remarks, FV Centre’s Monica Ramsey explained that one Community Hero was selected over each of the last twelve months. “The list is by no means comprehensive”, she added, “and there are others who will hopefully feature in our Community Hero slot.”

Ms Ramsey continued, “Those of you that are here today are a few of the many who tirelessly give their time in the service of others. You may not see it this way, but, you have become leaders in your own right whether by design or by default and it is your actions that have helped build community groups in this area.”

Patsy McGonagle, who was instrumental in setting up Finn Valley AC and the Finn Valley Centre in 1971, said there is tremendous community support” that is harnessed when needed to help individuals. He cited the ‘Mammy I Want to Walk’ campaign and the RunDonegal 5k for Sharon’s Girls.
