Mona McSharry, a 15-year-old student at Colaiste Cholmcille, Ballyshannon, was the talk of Irish swimming at the weekend after claiming five national titles at the Swim Ireland National Championships.
In doing so, she also broke the Irish Junior 100m Breaststroke record in both the semi-final and final and is edging very close to the Olympic qualifying mark.
The Grange, Co. Sligo girl returns to school tomorrow in Ballyshannon to prepare for her Junior Cert but is also looking forward to the European Senior and Junior Championships in the next few months. She is a member of the Marlins Swimming Club, Ballyshannon.
