A 35-year-old man was arrested in Letterkenny at the weekend following the discovery of ecstasy and cannabis.
A garda spokesperson confirmed that the man was arrested as part of an operation targeting the illegal sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Donegal area, shortly after midnight on Saturday morning.
He was taken to Letterkenny Garda station where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
Gardaí seized “a relatively small quantity” of cannabis herb and ecstasy at the scene.
A sum of cash was also seized following the planned search of a premises on Lower Main Street, Letterkenny.
The man was later released from Garda custody without charge.
A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions, the spokesperson concluded.
