West Donegal received a timely boost at the weekend with the official opening of the luxurious Waterfront Hotel in Dungloe,
Around 40 people will be employed in the new hotel.
This property has been transformed into a top class hotel by the new owner Kevin Boyle, the successful Chicago- based businessman.
With a careful blend of traditional and contemporary the hotel exudes that essential Donegal welcome the moment you put your foot in the door - nothing has been left to chance. The staff, the decor, comfort and that essential warmth of welcome all combine to make this new hotel a leading light in the local tourism sector.
Kevin’s father, the late Patrick Boyle emigrated from Eigheter near Arranmore to the US many years ago where the family set up a very successful catering company specialising in quality baking and confectionery.
It was always Kevin’s dream to invest back in his own area and when the hotel came on the market he seized the opportunity.
Speaking to the Donegal Democrat, he said: “This is my family home and you know many years ago before the name Wild Atlantic Way was in vogue, I travelled from Malin Head to Cork all along the Western seaboard, visiting all the little small villages, creeks and coves. I could recognise the potential even back then. All it needed was branding and good marketing and thankfully that has happened. Dungloe is now very much part of the Wild Atlantic Way.”
The hotel represents a multi million euro investment in terms of construction, employment and business generated into the area and is a great vote of confidence in the town.
Joseph McColgan, hotel manager, who has previously been on the management team of Ashford Castle and Sheen Falls is no stranger to first class hotels and one can rest assured that Kevin Boyle has left the hotel in very capable hands.
