Declan Boyle happy as Harps U-17s prepare for game with Cavan/Monaghan

As the Finn Harps U17s prepare for their final match in the Northern Section of the FAI National League team manager Declan Boyle has expressed his satisfaction with the excellent progress that the squad has achieved this season. A super string of results means the Harps U17s have already qualified for the quarter-final stages of the competition ahead of tomorrow’s game against Monaghan/Cavan at the Curragh in Killygordon (kick-off 2.00)

“It is great to be playing the last league fixture for the season, against Monaghan/Cavan at home tomorrow knowing well in advance, that we have already qualified for the third place play-off spot. After overcoming Derry City two weeks ago in a difficult match, and the other results going in our favour we have made the play offs, which was our goal at the start of the season” Boyle said.

The boss has been very pleased with the commitment of the players since the start of the campaign. “The lads have worked tirelessly all year and have thoroughly deserved to make the play-offs. As manager of the team, I'm delighted for the players, their attitude, commitment and performances throughout the year has being first class. They really have come a long way and have developed into an excellent team and we are all be looking forward to playing in the quarter-finals next weekend.”

Boyle says the match tomorrow against Monaghan/Cavan will give him the opportunity to rotate the squad, to play some of the younger lads and a number of players that are coming back from injury. “It’s important that we have a fully fit squad to select from going into the play-offs. Tomorrow's match will not be easy, Monaghan/Cavan team have improved as their season has progressed and we only drew with them in Monaghan in the first league match. So we will have to make sure we are at our best and it's so important to keep the good run of results and performance going ahead of the quarter-final next weekend. Obviously the players that get selected for tomorrow’s game have the opportunity to stake a claim to be selected for the play-off match. So we will be looking for a big performance and three points to finish the league fixtures on a positive note” Boyle concluded.
