Joe Dunphy's new book on Thomastown

Joe Dunphy's new book on Thomastown
Sean Keane

Historian, educator and Thomastown gem, Joe Dunphy’s latest book “Lest we Forget” will be launched in the Community Hall in Thomastown on Thursday, November 24 at 8pm.

This is Joe’s third book on the locality and is a mixture of facts and legends laced with anecdotes, humour and poetry.

All proceeds go to the upkeep of the town's Community Hall.

There are 300 photographs, old and new, suitably intermingled in the eleven chapter presentation.

Both the script and the photographs should raise a great deal of interest as people search for facts or faces.

The photos of a great many families, are scattered throughout the book..

This book would prove an ideal Christmas present. The date of the launch and the fact that it will be available in time for the Festive Season is ideal. Joe’s two previous books have winged their way, literally, all over the world to friends and relations and were much sought after.

Refreshments will be provided on the night. All will be very welcome and it is hoped a large crowd will attend. All the profits accruing from this book will be donated to the Community hall to help defray the cost of the damage caused by last winter’s floods. So, not only will you be buying your Christmas presents but you will be contributing to a very good cause at the same time.
