2,018 Donegal students are due to receive their Leaving Cert exam results this morning.
Of the total candidates nationally who sat Leaving Certificate examinations this year, 54,440 candidates followed the Leaving Certificate programme, 2,018 in Donegal and a further 2,709 followed the Leaving Certificate Applied Programme, with 104 of those students sitting the exam in Donegal.
Over 800 students in the county, sat the examination in Donegal ETB post-primary schools and 17 adult Leaving Certificate learners sat their exam back in June in the Letterkenny Further Education and Training Centre.
Most schools were due to open early this morning to offer results. Students can also access their results online from noon this Wednesday.
This year sees the first exam sat in the new subject of Politics and Society as well as changes to the Art assessment.
A helpline facility will be operating from August 15 to provide information and advice to students and parents at results time.
The helpline, which will be operated by the National Parents’ Council, is available on 1800 265 165.
The viewing of scripts will take place in schools on Friday August 31 and Saturday September 1.
To appeal a result, Leaving Certificate candidates should use the Online Appeal Application Service on www.examinations.ie.
This service, which allows candidates access to making and paying for an appeal, will be available from 12 midday on Monday August 20 until 5pm on Monday September 3.
LYIT offering support
Letterkenny Institute of Technology is also offering support to students getting results today. Theyhave a hotline service open offering advice or support to students about what the next stages are in the CAO process. In addition if you have failed Ordinary Level Maths, do not panic, they can also discuss the Enabling Maths Initiative which is available at LYIT. No question is too small!
