This year’s Operation Transformation may have ended but the highly successful programme has left a lasting legacy for many people throughout the country.
The whole emphasis on the importance of maintaining a balanced weight and a healthy lifestyle and more importantly a strong mental wellness has struck a chord with the nation.
Much of this has to do with that infectious personality and strong positive energy of Ballyshannon's Cathal Gallagher, one of the show's leaders.
Without a doubt Cathal is a big man with an even bigger heart and he shed an amazing amount of weight throughout the programme.
Not content to rest on his laurels Cathal has maintained his regime and has lost yet another 7 lbs this week.
“I am sticking with the Operation Transformation food plan and it is certainly working from every perspective,” he said.
“I just love getting up in the morning, love every day that God sends and enjoy the time that I am now spending with my family rather than just moping around the house. You must remember I was that couch potato.”
This weekend Cathal takes on another big challenge. Tomorrow night he will officially start the Cara 5k run and walk in Bundoran and he'll also take part in the event.
He has also decided to take on the Cara 10k challenge on Saturday morning - so get out there and show your support
If all this wasn't enough he will take to the fashion ramp in the Great Northern Hotel on Thursday next (March 14) to strut his stuff in a fundraiser for Magh Ene Secondary School.
