iCARE urges the public to keep the Re-Turns bin free from rubbish and dog-foul bags

iCARE has appealed to members of the public in Buncrana not to use its Re-Turns bin to dispose of rubbish or dog foul bags following several incidents of dog faeces or litter being dumped in the bin

The autism charity has erected signs at the entrance to its centre asking people to use the bin only for eligible Re-Turns bottles and cans.

In a message to the local community, iCARE said, “It has been brought to our attention that people are putting their rubbish and dog litter into our re-turns bin outside the centre.”

The charity said the practice was creating a potential biohazard for its young people and staff.

“We would ask members of the public to refrain from using our bins for this purpose as it is a biohazard to our young people and staff.”

The Buncrana organisation stressed that it welcomes members of the public to use the Re-Turns bin outside its gates to dispose of eligible bottles and cans.

The funds raised through the Re-Turns scheme go towards supporting the valuable work carried out by iCARE in the local community.

iCARE provides a range of programmes and supports for children and families, including after-school sessions, a Saturday club and school holiday programmes, that offer structured activities to help children with autism develop social and communication skills, while also providing families with much-needed respite.

The charity is now asking people to help ensure the Re-Turns facility remains safe and suitable for its intended purpose.

“No Dog Litter OR Rubbish,” the signs at the centre warn, with iCARE thanking the public for their co-operation.
