Inish Theatre Group was delighted to present a cheque for €1,000 to the Buncrana Community Hospital Patient Comfort Fund.
This demonstrated the group’s continued commitment to supporting local causes and giving back to the community that has supported it over the years.
The donation will help enhance the comfort and wellbeing of patients and residents at Buncrana Community Hospital and reflects the theatre group’s strong connection with the local community both on and off the stage.
Inish Theatre Group has been a passionate supporter of the Buncrana Community Hospital Campaign, working alongside family members of residents and local campaigners to highlight the importance of the facility and the need for investment in its future.
Together with residents’ families, members of Inish Theatre Group helped establish and support the Community Hospital Campaign Group, organising a highly successful peaceful protest and maintaining pressure to ensure the hospital remained a priority.
The campaign worked tirelessly to secure progress after years of delays and uncertainty, advocating for the commencement of refurbishment works and the reopening of services as quickly as possible, with the next meeting expected to take place this month.
Speaking at the cheque presentation, Inish Theatre Group Director Maureen Loughrey said: “We are incredibly proud to support Buncrana Community Hospital through this donation. The hospital means so much to families throughout our community, and we have been honoured to stand alongside residents’ families and campaigners in supporting its future. Seeing the renovation works finally underway is a welcome and positive step forward after years of delays.
“As a community theatre group, we believe in giving back whenever possible. The support we receive from our audiences allows us not only to bring quality entertainment to the area but also to contribute to important local causes such as this.”
While celebrating this donation and the progress being made at the hospital, Inish Theatre Group is also looking forward to an exciting period ahead.
The group’s highly popular Musical Theatre School will return in September 2026 and is already close to selling out, highlighting the growing interest in theatre and performing arts among young people across Inishowen.
Preparations are also underway for a major Summer Theatre Camp in August 2026, which promises to be one of the group’s biggest and most exciting youth programmes to date.
The group is also busy planning for its 2027 season and is encouraging audiences to keep an eye on its social media channels over the coming weeks for a number of exciting announcements, including future productions, events and new opportunities to get involved.
With a strong commitment to community, creativity and local engagement, Inish Theatre Group continues to go from strength to strength, making a positive impact both on stage and throughout the wider community.
