Former Carndonagh off-licence to become townhouses
Planning permission has been granted to turn a former popular Carndonagh off-licence into two townhouses.
The applicant, John Quigley, had sought a change of use of part of the premises and the upper floor apartments into two dwellings.
The planning application for The Cooler off-licence on Pound Street in the North Inishowen town included connection to existing services and all associated works.

Donegal County Council granted planning permission subject to five conditions. These included that the new townhouses are to be used as permanent homes only and not to be leased out as a holiday home or for short-term letting purposes. Such a proposal would need to be granted permission through another planning application.
Another condition laid down by the planning authority was that no surface water from the development is to be allowed to discharge onto the public road, and Mr Quigley is to take steps to ensure that no public road water discharges onto the development.
In the interest of public health and to prevent flooding, the Council noted that no surface water should be permitted to discharge into the public foul sewer network.
