The music of the Beatles continues to be enjoyed around the world, including in Moville.
The 17th annual BeatlesFest, celebrating the music of the world’s greatest ever band, is set to take place in Moville early next month.
The seaside town will be alive with Fab Four tunes, from Friday, August 1 until Sunday, August 3, explains event organiser Gerry McLaughlin.
Gerry has revealed how Beatles road manager and childhood friend of Paul and George, Tony Bramwell, had been a regular visitor to the Moville festival, visiting six different years prior to his death in 2024.
Tony said that it might not have been the biggest Beatles festival in the world, but it was one of the most quaint. He said Paul and Ringo were well aware that it was taking place, as he made a report to them ever year after it had finished.
Indeed, some years ago, Bramwell sent Paul McCartney a picture of himself sitting outside Rosato's in Moville enjoying a pint of Guinness. “Lucky b*****d!”, replied Paul.

Festival organiser Gerry, a huge Beatles fan himself, is asking attendees to get into the swing of things by donning sixties garb for the weekend.
“Beatles fans, of which there are many millions throughout the world, have a chance to sample what Paul missed and what Tony loved so much. It’s an opportunity to hear such classics as ‘Yesterday’, ‘Hey Jude’, ‘Imagine’ and ‘A Day in the Life’, played live to the backdrop of the beautiful waters of Lough Foyle,” Gerry smiled.
