Members of the 100% Redress Party met with MEP Mullooly to further outline the issues facing Donegal homeowners.
A delegation from the 100% Redress Party has met with Ciaran Mullooly MEP, Vice-Chair of the Special Committee on the Housing Crisis in the European Union.
The Redress Party representatives, including Deputy Charles Ward and Councillors Ail Farren, Joy Beard, Tomas Sean Devine and Denis McGee, stressed to MEP Mullooly how Donegal is currently experiencing one of the worst housing crises in Europe.
The 100% Redress contingent visited a number of defective homes with Mr Mullolly on Wednesday, while explaining to him that the Enhanced Defective Concrete Blocks Scheme is still not working for people.
“The reality is that it only works for those who already have the financial means to get started and cover shortfalls – leaving countless families trapped. Banks are reluctant to lend against homes that are literally crumbling, and families are left with no way forward,” they pointed out.
“We explained the science and the review of IS465 and how many homeowners are receiving the wrong remediation option for their home.”
“We highlighted the humanitarian crisis facing Donegal: families trapped in homes, with no emergency accommodation in place and no upfront payments to help them get started rebuilding their homes and their lives.”

The Donegal Redress Party members also highlighted the deep concerns around quarry self-regulation and the total absence of effective market surveillance.
They added: “Without real oversight, defective products could continue to reach the market and this nightmare will never end.”
“Our message was clear: Donegal families need urgent support, financial barriers must be removed, and the system of self-regulation must be replaced with proper enforcement and the science listened to.”
