More than €8,000 raised in memory of Moville musician John Collins

More than €8,000 raised in memory of Moville musician John Collins

A fund-raising music session in memory of the Moville singer John Collins has raised €8,728 for the Friends of Inishowen Hospice.

The event took place in the Sean Tí bar in Greencastle in June. The organisers would like to thank everyone involved in the fundraising.

Mr Collins, who was originally from Garryowen in Co Limerick, died last October after a battle against stomach cancer.

The fundraiser was organised by a group of local session musicians and friends in Mr Collins' memory and included a raffle organised across the local community with the support of local businesses.

Musicians from Belfast, Kerry, Leicester, Moville and Greencastle took part in the concert.

Mr Collins had been in the process of organising a fundraising effort for the charity when he died and he had been assured by his fellow musicians that the fundraiser would be realised.
