iCARE employs more than over 20 staff and provides a service to almost 100 families
Inishowen Children’s Autism Related Education (iCARE), which supports autistic individuals and their families in the Inishowen area, is celebrating its silver anniversary.
Twenty-five years have passed since a small group of seven parents came together to form iCARE with the common goal of getting support for their autistic children.
iCARE is now housed in premises on its own site, employing more than 20 staff and providing a service to almost 100 families. In addition to its child service, iCARE runs Sonas, a youth group for teenagers and iADULT, a day service for adults.

“With their dedication and determination and the overwhelming generous support of the local community, iCARE has come a long way since that first meeting in a parent's front room and is now recognised as an organisation that is at the forefront of provision for autistic people,” the organisation said ahead of the celebrations.
The 25th anniversary will be celebrated at the Inishowen Gateway Hotel on Saturday, September 27.
There will be entertainment from The Inish Theatre Kids, Sister Act, The Gateway Singers, Folk & Flame, Vivid Performance and Studio 47!
The night, which has a smart casual dress code, includes a two-course supper followed by live music from Noise in General.
Tickets cost €25 and are available online at www.eventbite.com or at the iCARE Centre and iCARE Charity Shop.
iCARE would like to thank event sponsors: Coyles Homevalue, HML Plant Sales, Plant Hire & Construction; Lawlor Gra Consulting Ltd; Gary & Sharon McCann; Shelly's Childcare, Coyle Coal and Colm Dillon Cars.
iCARE is also holding an open day to celebrate the 25th Anniversary with Highland Radio, David James and the outside broadcast team on Wednesday, September 24 at 2.30pm at the iCARE Centre, which also features a special photograph exhibition.
RTÉ’s Nationwide programme will also be doing a special feature on iCARE in the coming weeks.
