Áine McLaughlin and Rónán Moyne are advising members of the public of the importance of making a will.
Free information sessions to help people understand the importance of making a will are being held in Clonmany and Culdaff.
Inishowen Development Partnership (IDP), in collaboration with North Connacht Ulster Citizens Information, will host two public sessions free-of-charge this week.
The sessions – entitled ‘Making a Will: What You Need to Know’ – will be delivered by local solicitor Róisín Doherty and will both take place on Thursday, 20th November.
The morning session runs from 10.30am to 11.30am at the Wee Hall, Culdaff, while the evening session will take place at Clonmany Community Centre from 7pm to 8pm.
The workshops are designed to provide clear and practical guidance on why making a will matters, the key steps involved, and how to ensure a person’s wishes are properly recorded.
Áine McLaughlin, Community Development Officer with IDP, says the sessions are aimed at helping people understand the process and the importance of making a will, and ultimately to encourage more people to take this important step.
“Many people delay making a will because they are unsure where to begin,” said Áine.
“These workshops are about removing the uncertainty and helping people feel confident about the process.”

Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions and gain peace of mind about their future plans in a supportive setting.
Rónán Moyne, Development Manager, Donegal, North Connacht and Ulster Citizens Information Service, said the event is part of their Community Education programme and is for everyone in the community.
“Planning ahead brings peace of mind,” urges Rónán.
“A clear will not only avoids cost and confusion for your family, but it also gives security and dignity to the people you care about. Join us for this free session to learn what to include, common mistakes, and how to get started.”
Attendance is free, but booking is essential. To reserve a place, contact Áine at IDP on aine@inishowen.ie or phone 086 1028846 or 07493 62218.
