Moville’s Mullan Hope Centre has raised €3,250 for the local St Vincent de Paul branch, bringing some much-needed Christmas cheer to many children and struggling families.

The generous sum was raised following a successful Christmas craft market held at St Eugene's Hall on Sunday, November 16 last.

The Mullan Hope Centre, which was set up to honour the legacy of the late John Mullan and his kids, Amelia and Tomas, continues to do fantastic work in the community.

Organiser Geraldine Mullan said the Christmas craft fair was “another resounding success” – and she’s delighted to be able to help those in need by supporting an “amazing, worthwhile charity”.

“St Vincent de Paul is a charity close to my heart. I'm conscious of how a lot of families are really struggling coming up to Christmas, and our local SVP branch does amazing work to help out.”

“The volunteers do Trojan work; they’re so professional and discreet, and they act with such compassion and empathy. Family meant everything to me, and knowing that because of everyone's generosity, local families will directly benefit is something I'm very proud of,” Geraldine said.

She added: “Between the teas, coffees, traybakes, and ticket sales for the bumper Christmas raffle, as well as the stalls fees from the traders, we were delighted to raise €3,250 for the St Vincent de Paul.”

The sum has already been donated to Joe Kearney and the SVP committee, which runs the Vincent’s charity shop in Moville.

“A heartfelt thank you to everyone for supporting us and being so generous, as always,” Geraldine smiled.
