The Moville Tidy Towns committee has warmly thanked everyone who has contributed to one of its best years ever in the annual nationwide competition.
Moville won a gold medal for the first time at this year’s Super Valu Tidy Towns contest, with a total of 386 points – a massive increase of 15 points on its 2024 tally.
Remarkably, Moville is now just 14 points behind overall winner Carrick-on-Shannon's total of 400 points.
The Inishowen seaside town’s 2025 gold follows a silver medal in 2024, and a bronze in 2023, and local volunteers are understandably thrilled by the marked improvement in recent times.
The committee held its annual garden awards night in the Corner Bar on Tuesday, November 25, when various winners were presented with prizes.
Meanwhile, chairperson Marian McDonald, who has dedicated many years to the cause herself, has praised all those for their efforts during a memorable 2025.
“On behalf of Moville Tidy Towns and everyone involved in the garden competition, we wish to express our sincere gratitude to our sponsor William Gillespie, Corner Bar,” she said.
“The committee is incredibly thankful to the following: Councillor Martin Farren; John Crumlish, Seamus McGonagle and Eddie Ruddy, Donegal County Council; Paddy Joe Breslin; Martin and all FAS workers.”
“Also, Michael Lawrence Doherty; Boyce Paints; Rosemary Craig, Serenity House; Cosy Cottage; Sea Scouts; TY students at Moville Community College and all the businesses and volunteers who watered planters, as well as Kevin McLaughlin for cleaning and erecting street signs.”
Moville’s growing success is clearly built on teamwork and dedication. Congratulations to everyone involved.
