Buncrana GAA club will round off the year in celebratory style when its annual dinner dance takes place on Sunday 28 December at the Inishowen Gateway Hotel.
The popular end-of-season event will once again combine the presentation of player-of-the-year awards with recognition for teams who represented the club with distinction throughout the campaign.
However, this year’s gathering will carry added significance, with several landmark anniversaries also set to be marked.
Chief among them is the 30th anniversary of Buncrana’s Donegal Intermediate Football Championship triumph of 1995. That success saw Buncrana overcome St Naul's of Mountcharles by 1-8 to 1-5 in a memorable final. Interestingly, the same opposition would later stand in Buncrana’s way again when the club captured the Intermediate title in 2004.
The club will also pay tribute to its Donegal Minor A football champions of the millennium year, 2000. Despite having no players on the Donegal county minor panel that season, the Buncrana side went on to claim the county title in impressive fashion, defeating St Eunan's by 1-15 to 1-7 in the final.

Another milestone to be celebrated on the night is the tenth anniversary of Buncrana’s breakthrough success in the 2015 Donegal LGFA Junior Championship. That final saw Buncrana edge out Naomh Conaill by 1-10 to 2-6 in a hard-fought encounter that marked a significant moment in the development of ladies’ football within the club.

As ever, the formalities will be followed by entertainment, with David Craig and his band providing the music on the night, ensuring the celebrations continue long into the evening.
With championship winning teams from across three decades being remembered, the dinner dance promises to be a fitting occasion to honour Buncrana’s proud history while also celebrating the present generation of players and volunteers.
The craic gets going with a drinks reception from 7pm.
