A planning application has been submitted for improvements to the Education and Training Board (ETB) Youthreach Centre in Glengad, with the aim of enhancing safety and accessibility for staff, students, and visitors.

Anne McHugh, CEO of Donegal (ETB), is seeking permission for the provision of a vehicle and pedestrian set-down area at the front of the centre, adjoining the Malin to Glengad road. The proposed works will include a new pedestrian access ramp and steps, as well as a new front boundary wall. Additionally, the plans include the provision of extra car parking places to the rear of the building, alongside all associated site development works.

It is outlined in the application that the purpose of the proposed works is to improve the safety risk of persons using the facility and improve the disabled accessibility for persons with disabilities to the building.

The planned improvements have received funding approval from the Department of Education, and if planning permission is granted, the works are scheduled to commence in spring 2026.
