An Inishowen sea swimming group has generously donated vital funds to a local worthy cause.

The Crana Swimmers officially presented a cheque for €1,300 to the Foyle Hospice, the proceeds of its annual Christmas Day dip in Lough Swilly, when members braved the icy waters for charity.

Foyle Hospice Community Fundraiser Ailbhe McDaid was on hand to graciously accept the donation, which will support the local palliative care facility.

Grassroots contributions are the lifeblood of the hospice, ensuring that specialist palliative care remains available to patients and their families throughout the North West, including those in Inishowen.

A spokesperson for the Foyle Hospice said: “Many thanks to the Crana Swimmers who raised €1,300, proceeds of their Annual Christmas Day Swim. We are so grateful for your donation, which is making a difference to our specialist palliative care services.”

Members of the Crana Swimmers have supported the Foyle Hospice for many years, and they said they were proud to support such an important cause, thanking the wider community for their encouragement and generosity.

Crana Swimmers is a community-focused group based in Buncrana, known for promoting sea swimming and raising money for local charities.
