Inishowen community groups invited to apply for small grants with €650 up for grabs

IDP's Denise McCool and Rachel Grant are urging local groups to apply for funding, which is available to them.

Community and voluntary groups in Inishowen are invited to apply for the new Small Grant Scheme, which could be worth up to €650.

The 2026 SICAP Small Grants Programme, which is being rolled out by Inishowen Development Partnership (IDP), is designed to assist local groups in delivering targeted, impactful initiatives.

The programme is open to groups working with members of SICAP target communities in Inishowen, including people living in disadvantaged areas, older people experiencing isolation, those affected by educational or employment disadvantage, and much more.

Team Lead with IDP Denise McCool says the SICAP Small Grants programme falls under Goal 1, which aims to build more sustainable, inclusive and empowered communities.

“Each year, it is encouraging to see such a strong variety of applications coming forward from across the community and voluntary sector in Inishowen,” said Denise.

“The SICAP Small Grants Programme supports initiatives shaped by local priorities, tackling a wide spectrum of issues and strengthening community collaboration. Even a small grant can contribute meaningfully to the valuable work happening on the ground,” she added.

A range of actions and supports can be applied for under the grant, including creating community plans, training, small capital costs, running events, and environmental projects, to name but a few.

Successful applicants are typically awarded up to €650 based on assessment and available programme resources.

All expenditure must be vouched, and short reports on the actions are required. But the process is straightforward with a short application form and guidance provided by the Community Development Team at IDP.

Deadline for applications: Thursday, 9th April 2026 at 4pm. Application forms and further information are available at: www.inishowen.ie/support/community-group-support-development
