Carndonagh’s Spraoi agus Spórt announces ambitious growth expansion plans
“We’re equally focused on where we’re going. Strengthening our team allows us to deepen our impact and continue evolving alongside the community we serve”
Award-winning Carndonagh-based social enterprise Spraoi agus Spórt has announced plans to further expand its team as part of an ongoing period of sustained growth and development.
Formed by a small group of volunteers in 2010, the organisation grew steadily to a team of 100 people by 2025.
CEO Helen Nolan says the aim now is to increase this further by the end of 2026, which is good for the community and the local economy.
“Our development is rooted in responding to the evolving needs of the community,” explains Helen.
“Since September, we have expanded our management team across Innovation and Engagement, and our next step is to appoint a Manager for our Children, Family and Community Services. Our focus has always been on meeting real needs with services of the highest quality, and that is what drives our growth.”
Operating from Carn and working across Inishowen, Spraoi delivers a wide range of programmes supporting children, young people, families, and individuals with additional needs.
As the organisation continues to expand its reach and impact, strengthening its leadership structure is a key priority. The planned appointment of a new Services Manager for Children, Family and Community Services marks an important step in ensuring that growth is both sustainable and responsive.
Helen says the role will support the ongoing development of existing services while also helping to shape new initiatives.
This includes plans for a dedicated Child and Family Hub – an ambitious project designed to build a purpose-built facility to further enhance integrated supports for the local community.
This latest phase of growth also reflects Spraoi agus Spórt’s broader vision of building inclusive, resilient communities through innovation, collaboration, and high-quality service delivery.
“We’re proud of how far we’ve come,” says Helen. “But we’re equally focused on where we’re going. Strengthening our team allows us to deepen our impact and continue evolving alongside the community we serve.”
