A credit to Moville, as Oonagh retires after years of friendly service

“She was a much-loved and truly valued member of the team and will be greatly missed by all”
A familiar and much-loved face at the Inishowen Credit Union office in Moville has retired after almost a decade of dedicated service.
Moville woman Oonagh McDermott has brought the curtain down on her career with the Credit Union, having become well known to generations of members for her warm welcome, friendly manner and professional approach.
Oonagh’s journey began with Foyle Credit Union, where she initially worked as a volunteer before officially joining the team as a staff member in 2017.
She remained a dedicated member of the team when Foyle Credit Union merged with Inishowen Credit Union in 2021, continuing to serve members from the Moville office.
Her retirement was marked by a fond farewell from colleagues at Inishowen Credit Union on Saturday, August 29, with staff paying tribute to the contribution she made during her years with the organisation.
Joanne McCormick, Business Development and Marketing Officer with Inishowen Credit Union, said Oonagh had become a “very familiar and friendly face” in the Moville office over the years.
“She was known for her warm welcome and bubbly personality,” Joanne said.
“She was a much-loved and truly valued member of the team and will be greatly missed by all our staff, Board members, volunteers and members.”
While colleagues will undoubtedly miss seeing her behind the counter, they are now wishing Oonagh well as she begins the next chapter of her life.
“While we will certainly miss seeing Oonagh around the office, we wish her every happiness, good health and lots of enjoyment in this exciting new chapter,” Joanne added.
“Happy Retirement, Oonagh, from everyone at Inishowen Credit Union.”
