The vehicle had been in Garda storage on this side of the border for almost 12 months after being seized

A car which was allegedly involved in a cross-border incident after failing to stop for PSNI officers is to be disposed of following a successful police property application at Buncrana District Court.

The black Peugeot 208 had been in Garda storage on this side of the border for almost 12 months after being seized by the guards.

Sgt Conor Mulkerns outlined the circumstances to the court, explaining that on October 3, 2025, at approximately 10.50pm, Gardaí on patrol received a report that a vehicle had failed to stop for the PSNI and had crossed the border into the Republic.

The vehicle was subsequently seized by Gardaí in Inishowen.

The court heard that the registered owner of the Peugeot was a woman in Derry.

However, despite the vehicle being held by Gardaí, nobody had come forward to claim ownership of it.

Sgt Mulkerns told the court that the vehicle had remained in Garda storage for almost a year.

Judge Ciaran Liddy subsequently granted the police property application, allowing the State to dispose of the unclaimed Peugeot.
