The 'wee library' at Pollan Beach in Ballyliffin, has been burned down.

Visit Ballyliffin posted to say it's "heartbreaking to see it destroyed" and vowed to rebuild the library, which involves the general public bringing books to readers and readers to books, a free community book-sharing scheme for adults and children.

"This message is for the person who decided to burn down our tiny free library at the beach," they posted. "This little library brought joy and learning to many in our community, and while it’s heartbreaking to see it destroyed, our love for sharing books and knowledge remains strong. We’ll rebuild—and we hope that someday, you’ll find the joy of reading, too."
