Dr Angela Byrne is giving a talk at Buncrana library on Donegal’s connections with the Russian Empire
Inishowen-born historian Dr Angela Byrne is giving two local talks on Donegal’s surprising connections with the Russian Empire.
Dr Byrne, the author of Anarchy and Authority: Irish Encounters with Romanov Russia, is giving the talk titled Redcastle to Red Square in Buncrana and Carndonagh this week.
She will discuss Donegal's connections with the Russian Empire, including the historic Donegal figures with links to Russian engineering and industry, and how the county’s international trade links brought it into contact with the world’s largest land empire.
