the writers and poets who read at the Words by the Water event in March 2024
Are you a writer? A poet? Do you write stories about your life? But are you nervous about reading your work in public?
Greencastle Writers Group has a special offer just for you! On Saturday, March 22, they are holding their fourth Words by the Water evening for selected writers to showcase their work.
David Simpson, the organiser says: ‘It is daunting to read your work in public. So this year we are offering selected writers the chance to have their work read out by one of the Greencastle writers group. We don’t want people to be excluded from having their writing considered for our event."
Feedback from the previous three events has been positive. Fionnuala McNicholl who read her poetry at the March 2024 event said: "This evening gave me the opportunity to read my poetry and listen to fellow emerging writers. We are seldom afforded such a platform. Writing can be an isolated venture. The audience was appreciative and non-judgemental. It was heartwarming."
The group also provide the opportunity for writers to have their work published. Writings from each event are gathered together into a collection and sold at the events.
Words by the Water will be held at Greencastle Community Centre from 7.30pm - 9pm. Anyone who is happy to read their own work is, as always, welcome to submit, as are previous readers. The closing date for submissions to be considered is Friday, March 7. Guidelines for submitting are on the group's Facebook page: Words by the Water. There is no theme. If you are not on Facebook please email greencastlewritersgroup@gmail.com.
