The swim will take place on March 8 at 11am at the main beach in Culdaff
A swim to mark International Women’s Day is taking place in Culdaff. The event is taking place on Saturday, March 8 at 11am at the main beach in Culdaff, and is being organised by local mental health counsellor Tracy McKeague.
“The idea behind this event is both a celebration of women and some connection time. We all know the sea is a great feel-good place to escape the strains and stresses of the world, with many great friendships being forged and developed between the sand and the waves. So why not use this day to celebrate that and also raise some funds for charity,” says Tracy, who runs a private and public counselling practice at Serenity House, Moville.Proceeds from the swim will be donated to a worthy local cause.

“My events are always free-of-charge but on this occasion I would like to raise awareness and some funds for a local charity that is close to my heart: Friends of Inishowen Hospice (previously Friends of Carndonagh Hospice).
“This was set up to provide assistance and support to people in Inishowen with cancer and for those under palliative care. They offer a wide range of services, from funding with travel and accommodation for those travelling, to treatments and appointments, to counselling services for the patients, family or those bereaved.
The swim, she says, is for everyone, not just women. “The more the merrier,” she said.
