McGrory’s hotel in Culdaff opened in 1924

McGrory’s hotel in Culdaff is set to reopen under new ownership after it closed its doors suddenly in February after more than 100 years in business.

Local businessman Paddy Doherty has taken over the hotel, which has been famous as a music venue over the years with its renowned Backroom venue hosting legendary musicians over the years including Rodney Crowell, Townes Van Zandt, Peter Green, Guy Clark and Cassandra Wilson and Femi Kuti.

A post on the hotel’s Facebook page said the business has been taken over by Mr Doherty, “who hails from the Glackin Clan”.

“Alongside his wife Orla, Paddy brings a deep-rooted love for Irish culture, traditional music, and the Irish language to everything they do.
