Jim McGuinness has been confirmed as the Donegal manager for the 2027 season, while Mickey McCann has been ratified as hurling manager for the next two years.

Donegal boss McGuinness will go into his fourth year in charge in his second stint as manager, having won two Ulster titles and reaching the All-Ireland final in 2025.

Donegal were defeated in Round 3 of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship this year, having lost out to Down in the Ulster quarter-finals.

McGuinness, who led Donegal to the All-Ireland in 2012 in his first spell as manager, initially returned on a three-year-deal with an option of a fourth year.

DonegalLive had reported in August that McGuinness would remain in charge for a fourth year, which was confirmed on Monday evening by the Donegal county board.

A press release from the county board reads: “Following a meeting of the County Committee, CLG Dhún na nGall confirm the appointment of Michael McCann as Senior Hurling manager for a two year term and Jim McGuinness as Senior Football Manager for a one year term.”

McCann will go into a tenth season in charge of the hurlers, with the team competing in the Christy Ring once again next year.
