Ceoltóirí Canóla, an all-female barbershop quartet from Donegal, has set up a GoFundMe page to help them compete in an international competition in Denver, Colorado.

After becoming national champions in 2024, Ceoltóirí Canóla is now setting their sights on the International Barbershop Harmony Society’s Convention in Denver which will take place from June 29 to July 26.

The group has already made history by becoming the first Irish quartet to qualify for the prestigious Varsity Quartet Contest at the event.

The group comprises Alice O'Connor (soprano) from Ramelton, Sadbh Breathnach (lead singer) from Manorcunningham, Katie Coyle (baritone) and Síne Ó hAodha (bass), both from Letterkenny.

Alice and Katie are Leaving Cert students attending Loreto Milford, while Sadbh and Síne are fifth year students at Coláiste Ailigh.

“We’re beyond excited and incredibly honored to represent Ireland on the international stage,” says Sadbh. “Competing in Denver will be a dream come true, and we’re so grateful for the support we’ve received so far.”

Donations to the group’s GoFundMe will help cover travel, accommodation, and competition expenses as they prepare to represent Donegal, and Ireland, on the global stage.

Formed in 2023, Ceoltóirí Canóla made their debut at the Irish Association of Barbershop Singers (IABS) competition in 2023, earning first place in the Youth Quartet category.

In 2024, they were crowned IABS National Quartet Champions, impressing judges with their flawless harmonies and stage presence.
