The Dáil has been told that a new school building is required
Donegal TD Charles Ward has urged Taoiseach Micheál Martin to commit to a new school building for Scoil Mhuire in Milford.
The 100% Redress TD made the call in the Dáil on Tuesday, claiming the current building is “not fit for purpose”.
“There are severe issues with the children's toilets in the current building, there is no green play area, denying the children the opportunity for any meaningful physical activity.

“There is a severe lack of classroom space and as a result teachers are forced to teach pupils in the corridor or storeroom, and there are serious road safety issues, children have had so many near misses.”
Mr Ward said that no form of refurbishment can address the issues and said that a new school building is required “to ensure that the children in Milford are able to receive a proper education and are able to develop in a safe environment”.
In response the Taoiseach asked the TD to send him the details of the issue to raise with the education minister.
