Cara House Family Resource Centre in Letterkenny is expanding its Active Age services, with a renewed focus on bringing senior community members together while promoting wellbeing, connection, and positive aging.

The service already offers a wide range of opportunities, from language classes, crochet, dress-making, yoga, Pilates, art, dance and light exercise, to vibrant social groups such as the Women’s Shed, Men’s Shed, Friday Social Group, a carers support group and a Book Club.

As demand for meaningful social interaction continues to grow, Cara House is responding by creating more opportunities for older adults to stay active, engaged, and connected.

In the coming weeks, Cara House will be rolling out additional social groups, with details shared across its social media platforms. New activities include a Bake Swap and Chatty Crafters, offering even more ways for community members to connect. October also marks the launch of the “Movie Madness” series, which has already proven so popular that further screenings are planned.

Details of upcoming social events will be announced shortly, including the much-anticipated Cara House Christmas Event, which this year will feature their very first Christmas Markets, along with festive finger food, music, and entertainment.

In addition to group activities, Cara House provides a range of valuable Active Age services for senior citizens in Letterkenny and the immediate surrounding areas. The Befriending Service is a volunteer-led initiative offering one-to-one visits in the home, providing companionship and support to those who may be feeling isolated or simply in need of a friendly chat.

The Daily Dinner Delivery brings nutritious, home-style meals delivered hot to the door every Monday to Friday excluding Bank Holidays.

The Helping Hands Service provides practical assistance with small household and garden tasks, available Monday to Wednesday excluding Bank Holidays.
