Cllr Brogan told a meeting of the MD this week that some of the town's car parks are under a lot of pressure while others are underused
Concern about parking pressures in parts of Letterkenny has led to a call for a full audit of all council-operated car parks in the town.
Councillor Ciaran Brogan, the Mayor of Letterkenny, called for the audit and a meeting to discuss parking habits and short and long-term plans for Letterkenny.

Cllr Brogan told a meeting of the MD this week that some of the town's car parks are under a lot of pressure while others are underused: "It’s timely for us to do a full audit under the regeneration programme to look at the capacity and rates (hourly or daily). “If we are being realistic about addressing traffic challenges, we need to be looking at park and ride as well."
Cllr Brogan asked for the meeting to include traffic wardens, saying the goal is to “send a positive message out that Letterkenny is open for business" and to have "a bit of common sense and discretion".
Improving information for motorists was another priority. “We need to look at how we can improve the signage and messaging about all the car parks we have,” Cllr Brogan stated. Business people on the main street are anxious that we have a discussion heading into the Christmas period," the council heard.
In a written reply, the Roads Section of Letterkenny-Milford confirmed it will carry out the audit and will provide an update to the members when it is completed.
