Errigal College, Letterkenny, recently marked the retirement of three highly respected members of its teaching staff, Hugo Dorrian, Geraldine McDonald, and Pascale Gallanagh, whose combined service amounts to 63 years within Errigal College. 

The school community gathered recently at The Church, Rockhill House, to recognise their contribution to education and the significant legacy each leaves behind.

Hugo, who joined Errigal College in 1989, retires after 36 years of service. A teacher of English, History and ASD, he played a central role in the academic and pastoral life of the school.

Geraldine, retiring after 16 years at Errigal College, began her career working with young offenders through Galway VEC, later supporting adult Travellers in Letterkenny before joining the school in 2009 as a Teacher of English.

Pascale retires after 11 years at Errigal College, having previously taught in Moville, Carndonagh and Milford following her return from London in 1998. Since joining the staff in 2014, she has been a valued member of the Language Department, teaching Spanish, French and various modules on PLC programmes.

In acknowledging their retirement, Principal Mr Danny McFadden paid tribute to their collective commitment and service: “Hugo, Geraldine and Pascale have each made a lasting contribution to Errigal College. Their professionalism, their dedication to students and their positive impact on our school community have been exemplary. Together, they have given over six decades of service, and their influence will remain visible in the lives of the many students they have taught.

"We extend our sincere thanks and wish them every happiness in their retirement.”

Errigal College extends their thanks to the retirees for their many years of service and convey their best wishes as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.
