The tarmac at Aura Leisure Centre in Letterkenny will be assessed by Donegal County Council.

This comes as the condition of the tarmac at the council-owned sports facility was described as “deplorable”.

100% Redress Cllr Tomás Seán Devine raised the issue at the March meeting of Letterkenny-Milford MD. He asked that the tarmac surface be replaced “as a matter of urgency”.

He added: “I've been contacted by people who use those facilities on a regular basis as it’s a brilliant facility that draws huge attendance from all over and it’s a shame to see it in poor state."

Cllr Devine said that the problem is particularly bad at the main entrance, calling it “deplorable”. His motion was seconded by Independent Cllr Michael McBride, who agreed that the damage is worst at the front.
