Donegal Women’s Centre proudly announces the launch of its newly redesigned and fully informative website, www.donegalwomenscentre.ie.
The site was created as a comprehensive community resource for women across Donegal. It provides a clear, accessible hub for women, families, community organisations, employers, health professionals, and anyone navigating emotional, physical, or sexual wellbeing challenges, offering one stop access to all support services, programmes, and information the Centre provides.
For 37 years, Donegal Women’s Centre has been a safe, confidential, and non judgemental space for women and young women across Donegal, offering professional, trauma informed support designed to empower, heal, educate, and advocate for women’s health and rights. The new website highlights the full range of services and programmes offered, ensuring that anyone seeking help, guidance, information, or connection can easily understand what support is available and how to access it.
Psychotherapy and Counselling are central to the Centre’s work, provided through the Domestic Abuse Trauma Psychotherapy and Counselling Service and the Donegal Community Counselling Service. These services deliver confidential, client centred support from a team of psychotherapists and counsellors for women navigating emotional difficulties, trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship and family pressures, and life transitions. The counselling services are made accessible and affordable thanks to donations and fundraising, taking place at the Haven Building, next to Donegal Women’s Centre.
Sexual health and wellbeing services form another core element of the Centre’s mission. The Women’s Health & Family Planning Clinic offers confidential advice and support on contraception, cervical screening, menopause care, and other reproductive health matters.
Young women aged 17 to 26 can access the free iLash Young Women’s Sexual Health Clinic, a free drop in service providing consultations, contraception guidance, and a safe space to discuss sensitive issues.
Donegal Women’s Centre also delivers a wide range of targeted programmes designed to meet specific community needs. These include Minding Mum, supporting mothers’ mental health; programmes for women working with the Probation Service, aimed at those at risk of entering the judicial system; support initiatives for women at risk of suicide; and the Connecting for Life “Let’s Talk About Suicide” workshops, funded by the HSE Connecting for Life. The Centre also offers wellbeing, education, and personal development programmes, including workshops and specialised initiatives such as the Menopause education series “Menopause is Everyone’s Business”, designed to build confidence, resilience, and personal growth in a safe, supportive environment. Thanks to funding from the HSE National Lottery.

These services and programmes would not be possible without the support of funders including Cuan, The HSE, National Lottery, The Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration, The Department of Children, Disability and Equality, The Probation Service, and Connecting for Life. Every initiative reflects the Centre’s ongoing commitment to providing vital support for women in all areas of life.
Recognising that sometimes simply being heard can make all the difference, the Centre’s Listening Service offers face to face or phone support from trained listeners for women feeling lonely, anxious, overwhelmed, or unsure, with no concern considered too small or irrelevant. The website also provides information referral helping women navigate external supports, make informed decisions, and access additional assistance when needed.
The website is more than an informational portal; it is a gateway to connection, enabling visitors to check eligibility, make enquiries and feel empowered to reach out without fear or judgement. Emergency numbers, crisis support contacts, and immediate help resources are also clearly provided, reinforcing that no woman in Donegal should face challenges alone.
Every woman who connects with Donegal Women’s Centre, online or in person, is treated with kindness, respect, and complete confidentiality, reflecting the Centre’s long standing vision of a community where every woman feels safe, valued, and understood. Employers, community groups, health professionals, friends, and family members will now find it easier than ever to refer someone in need, recognise signs of emotional, psychological, or physical distress, and approach conversations about wellbeing in a sensitive and informed manner.
Donegal Women’s Centre invites all women across Donegal seeking support, information, or connection to explore the new website at www.donegalwomenscentre.ie, call 074 91 24985, or email donegalwomenscentre@gmail.com for confidential assistance. In moments of immediate danger or crisis, individuals should contact An Garda Síochána on 112 or 999.
The launch of this comprehensive online platform marks a significant step in the Centre’s mission to ensure that information, support, and community are always just a click away for women across Donegal.
